Events in Emerald Coast and surroundings: the most important dates for summer 2017

The events in Emerald Coast, Porto Cervo and throughout Gallura are the most exclusive of summer 2017 in Sardinia. Festivals and unforgettable concerts of summer 2017 in Gallura-Emerald Coast

Hotel Cala di Volpe hosts English singer Seal on 22th July and the American band Black Eyed Peas on 12th August. Following the annulment of Seal’s concert, new names are the Sister Sledge, Sergio Sylvestre and John Newman on 29th July. The most prestigious hotel in Porto Cervo, managed by Mariott Costa Smeralda on behalf of Qatar Holding, proposes again during this summer the appointment with the great stars of international music. Two exclusive nights for a selected audience accompanied by the profound and seductive voice of the British songwriter and the contagious rhythms of the hip pop group of Los Angeles, the 70s dance music, and the new voices of Italian and international music scene.

The 2017 edition of Time in Jazz from 8th to 16th August. The important festival celebrates its thirty years. For the occasion, the most famous Sardinian live music event has been made, if possible, even richer, and more interesting. Gallura-Emerald Coast will always be the scenery of Time in Jazz. Among the most important international names there are English saxophonist Andy Sheppard, Norwegian guitarist Eivind Aarset and US pianist Uri Caine. But the Time in Jazz is not just a musical festival. It is an event of great culture in which cinema, art and literature are mixed together.

From 31th August to 3rd September, the Valley of the Moon hosts the festival Musica sulle Bocche. The musical notes of this other prestigious jazz event of North Sardinia will resound among the white granite rocks near Santa Teresa di Gallura. The atmosphere of Valley of the Moon is the magic ingredient that since 2001 contributes to the success of Musica sulle Bocche. Its famous sunsets with the Strait of Bonifacio in the background will become even more stunning and unforgettable thanks to jazz music and not only (here the festival program).

Watersports events in Gallura-Emerald Coast

The wonderful stretch of Gallurese coast between Santa Teresa di Gallura and Palau will be the location of a sport event unforgettable for windsurfing lovers. From 3th to 9th July 2017 Coluccia Bay hosts the second edition of the Wind Techno Cup. This is the National Techno 293 Trophy, valid for Olympic and Coppa Italia competitions. More than 200 athletes will amaze the public with their water acrobatics in the uncontaminated water of Porto Liscia. The event also includes a rich program of evening events and a continuous animation for the youngest.

Among the events in Porto Cervo scheduled for summer 2017 there is the Rolex Farr 40 World Championship from 13th to 16th July. This important sports competition returns for the 3rd time to Porto Cervo after the 2009 and 2002 editions. The event, which is valid for the World Championship, is organized by the exclusive Yacht Club Costa Smeralda and has Rolex as sponsor.

The second unforgettable event for sailboat lovers is the Audi J/70 World Championship from 12th to 16th September 2017. The waters of Porto Cervo and the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda have been chosen to host the first edition of the World Championships Mediterranean J/70. The event is very expected especially as it will attract teams from around the world for an exciting challenge in the prestigious Emerald Coast.

The excellence of Sardinian wine

During Gallura-Emerald Coast summer 2017, the culinary tradition could not be absent. Gallura, kissed by the sun and shaped by the wind, is renowned for its fine wines. The picturesque village of Aggius on 5th August 2017 hosts the 5th appointment of the event “Territori del vino e del gusto”. The event involves almost 100 wineries representing the Consorzio del Carignano del Sulcis and the four Sardinian Wine Roads: Vermentino DOCG, Cannonau, Malvasia and Sardegna Nord Ovest. The program includes guided tastings with chefs and sector professionals. The fine wines of Sardinia will accompany the typical local dishes related to the Sardinian tradition, which combine delicate flavours of the sea with the decided taste of the products of the land.

“Territori del vino e del gusto” is organized by the Tourism, Crafts, and Commerce Department in collaboration with LAORE Regional Agency, the involved municipal administrations, the four Sardinian Wine Roads and the Carignano Consortium.

 

But events in Emerald Coast, Porto Cervo and throughout Gallura for summer 2017 do not end there. We recommend other two significant appointments. The first is the exhibition “Andy Warhol vip society Porto Cervo” scheduled from 30th June to 17th September at the Hotel Cervo Conference Center. The exhibition, organized by Marriott Costa Smeralda and Fondazione Mazzoleni, collects 188 original works by the great American artist and some of its memorabilia. The second event perfect for fashion lovers is the new edition of Porto Cervo Fashion Week scheduled for July.
